I am feeling that I am wanting the 1D Mark II because of the noise situation. I am wanting to shooting night photos and knowing with the 1D long exposures aren't too good. Would you take the step of getting the 1D Mark II if you were me and having to sale the 1D and 70-200L 2.8 IS to get it? Any advice would be helpful...I am about to put an ad here with them up for sale.

Just my 2 cents, but I wouldn't give up the L glass to upgrade my camera. My lenses make a larger difference in the general quality of my photos than the body does. You will be limiting your range of shooting by giving up the L glass. But that's a personal decision you will have to make, based on your facts and circumstances. It's just an opinion. Take it for what its worth.

You can't sell your lenses!
MkII will indeed help with noise though.

I know...I am crying as I type...I don't want to sell it but, I might have to because the other half would kill me if I spend anymore money. Pass the klenex please! :(

Note: I am thinking about it only...don't know if I will or not. So, that people will know that I am not sure and wonder what they would do.

I wouldn't sell your L glass, it'll hold it's value much better than the body would. I could sell my 2 year 70 - 200 for $1400 in less than 2 minutes on FM, I'd be hard pressed to get more than $700 for my 2 year old 10D.. barely over a 10% "loss" on the lens, 50% loss on the body.
If it helps Canon has a $500 rebate on the 1dMKII starting tomorrow!
I wish I had the money for one, but I'd have to sell one of my vehicles and then I'd feel really silly spending *that* money on a camera body when I have other avenues it would be better suited for.

The MKII was a HUGE leap over the 1D for me. I am very glad to have one. That said, you'd be giving up half or more of the advantage of getting it if you give up that great lens. I'd save the $$ and wait. It will get cheaper, which will help.

I have been told to never sell your L glass. The camera you are thinking about is great, but to me it isn't worth the money. Only you know what you want. If you want it, go for it. YOU only go around once.

Thanks everyone...I think I will just save up for the camera and keep my L glass. I paid too much for this baby to let it go...and to think I almost did. But, I do want the Mark II for sure.
