In the first photo, your friend has an antenna growing out of the top of his head. And a little man standing next to it. It's the first thing I see when I view the photo.

Beat me to that one.. But it reminded me of those early morning cartoons when I was a kid and that little green alien that was part of the yogi bear show..

Brought me a chuckle anyways.

#1: white balance is off, the tie doesn't seem to fit in, the shirts unexposed into bit oblivion, there's not much sense of depth in the shot - only two levels both perpendicular to the line of sight, the subject and poster are both too central through the frame, as - as discussed above - the overlap in an unflattering way.

#2: Great... really like that... the post-processing on the shirt looks like some watercolour filters, and makes a good counter-point to the still-realistic head and shadows. The eye contact works well, and it's got a nice casualness to it, reinforced by the headphones. Bit confused about the mid-grey curved strip off his forehead... not a baseball hat... maybe a visor? Bit of a worry.

You're so right, Boo-Boo. I thought of "My Favorite Martian" from the early 60s (same era -- hope that doesn't date me too much, heh!).
