OK, to recap, I've been looking to upgrade from my 300D. I finally went out and looked at the 10D and the 350D.
I found a local dealer that has a 10D body that was a "store display" for $750. This includes all software/hardward plus a 1 year warrenty. I tried it with the inhouse lens and everything seem's OK.
I can pick up the 350D NEW for an additional $150.
Which would you go with?

i dont think you will gain anything going from a 300d to a 10d. If you get the hack for the 300d they are almost identical, except little differences. 350d would be the more logical choice if you ask me.

I would second that, I have owned both the 300D and the 10D, I bought a 350D 2 weeks ago, and it is far more camera than either of the others. The 350D improves on every single feature of the 10D/300D.

It's always easy to spend other people's money, but in this case I'd absolutely go for the 350. I owned a couple 10Ds, and they're a fine camera, but the 350 is two years newer, and where technology is concerned, that's a pretty long time. Might as well make the jump to 8 megapixels now. You konw it's only a matter of time.

Thanks to all. It looks like it's time to sell the 300D and pick up the 350D!;)

look a few threads above yours...someone just bought their 20D for $1000. That's an incredible price for an incredible camera! (I bought mine just 2 weeks ago for $1350.) Why not pay a little extra and jump to the next level, one that you will probably not outgrow for a very long time?

Could I suggest that the move from a 300 to a 350 is not that fantastic and certainly not as useful as a good lens you could buy with the money.
If one would benefit from waiting, it would be certainly better to own a lens that will still be viable in the future, rather that the body which has a 'shelf life'. The fact that you don't want it any more means that you won't get that much for it. To you it was probably new and you know how you have cared for it.
The D400 (or whatever) will be round the corner to tempt you before you know it.
Sermon over. Oh and eat your greens!

i would agree with the above post, but $150 more isnt that much and i`d say its probably more than $150 better than a 10d or 300d

Why are you unhappy with the Rebel? Is there something specific that you want to do which you can't? I have the 10D and it is a great camera (I use alot of the functions, but there are some I will probably never use). I paid $900.00 for my 10D with the battery grip, 2 batteries, cables and software. After owning it for a while I realize that i would have been just as happy with a pro series point and shoot. I like photography and have enjoyed the hobby for many years, but I have no desire to take it beyond just for fun.
I used to consider myself a pretty good photographer, but here lately I have become very frustrated and I blame alot of that on my camera. There is so much technology built into the 10D that now I overthink situations and miss alot of good shots. The meter is undependable, but most are. I still have to edit 99% of my photos, which I hate. I guess old habbits are hard to break, but sometimes I think it would be so easy to go back to film. Just my opinion. You make your own.

I mainly shoot indoor sports. Even with my f2.8 70-200 Sigma EX lens, It becomes quite a challenge. Both the 10D and 350D have features that'll increase my chances of obtaining more keeper's than the Rebel can.
Other than that, the DReb is a great camera. ;)

go against the grain, get a film slr. Better yet get a holga. Go backwards man. Conformity sucks, the person makes the picture. I've seen people with 1d's that take horrible pictures

I did read this as he was thinking of spending an additional 150 ON TOP of the 750 for the 10d to get the 350.
Definitely I would exchange an old generation, second hand camera for a new generation, new one for 150 (anyone would). He was looking at spending 900, which I would say is a lage step up financially for a modest improvement in the camera (unless it has a feature that you must have).

If you truly want to shoot indoor sports at the top level track down the elusive 200/1.8....AWE THE HOLY GRAIL!

If you have the opportunity to hold and play with both of these cameras it might make a difference. I haven't seen the 350 yet however I already know that it would be much too small for my liking.
Just hold both of them first. It could mean a lot.

I held both in my hand yesterday WITH the Sigma lens. The 10D was more balanced, but for the little extra $$$, the XT was manageable. I'll probably bundle up my DReb and put it up for sale. Once I move it, I'll go with the XT. Just too many additional features to pass up. ;)
