powershot a510 green focusing boxes

sometimes those green boxes appear in the wrong place.
what are they for and how can i have it to my subject is in focus.

Turn the multi-focus off and use center focus will give you better control. Following is a good tutorial on this topic.

How can I turn off those green boxes for a [ ] focus ? Im looking for in the menu, but I dont see the option to change that.
