I think I would have liked both eyes to be in sharp focus, but this was one of those "quick get it now before they move" shots. This is two flamingos resting with their head laid back into their backs, both looking oposite directions.

True, it would be nice if you had both eyes in sharp focus, but the capture is very good as is. As you say, you had to get the shot before they moved, and you did well.
While I like the detail of feathers and color at the bottom, I think those areas distract a bit from the eyes. If you crop closer to square, leaving everything at the top but cutting out the bottom, you'll get an image that is more abstract but which you may find intriguing. Just a suggestion.

I agree with Mitch, funny thing is whan it opened on my screen I could only see the cropped shot and I liked it, I didn't bother scrolling down until I read Mitch's comment :) and I think it's a stronger shot with tighter crop.
