To me the second looks like a swing and miss.

All the pictures have nice clean colours and focus is spot on.

2nd is the best for me, would be a hell of an advert for the baseball bat :)

Actually I think #2 is the weakest of the four, I've never been a fan of that angle. Only seen a few that work, majority do not. If I had to pick one here it would be #4 but I would rather see the release point.

Thanks guys, Chris, is that generally accepted as better "the release point" over the ball being in the air? And what about the first shot of the winfield pitcher? Whats your take on that crop and angle?

I'm not really a fan of #2 either, what I really did like about it was the bat logo. Generally though I dont like shooting guys backs.

Great job of not blowing out the white uniforms. Still working on that from here!

Loved #2 and the last pitcher shot. Good work.

Appears you stuggle with something I've learned but haven't yet corrected. I understand that when a pitcher goes into his motion, his face isn't at the same place as when he reached the set position BEFORE the pitch. This results in OOF faces when the actual pitching motion is captured. Intend on working on this the next time a game can actually be played in NE Ohio! Dreadful weather chock full of liquid sunshine. Ugh!

Like this for example, would you consider this a better shot because of the "release point"?

Dave, I struggle with my aim on MANY levels..lol. I always use single point focus and I'm contantly battling trying to keep it in the right place instead of instictively following the motion with the camera.

Personally I like them a little better, but I do shoot the other too. The pitcher is at a strange angle in that one though. Nice shots Bill.

Thanks Chris, having pro's like you point out whats a "pro" image and what isnt is invaluable.

I always appreciate input, to me NO picture is ever perfect, every image could be better. Kiss up and play nice some other time, on here tell me what could be better about my shots no matter how good they are!..lol

One thing I'm learning with baseball is you have to really evaluate the pitchers for the best shots. An angle that might work with one may not with another because of the way he leans or the point when he lifts his head.

Bill - A lot of times I watch the pitcher throw a few times before I shoot them, they all have little quirks in their windup.

I'm off to shoot Northwestern and Notre Dame at US Cellular, should be fun the weather is actually pretty nice in Chicago today.
