thank you Frank and Stan, Maureen, cfcRebel, Sandy, Robert ?(RbrtPtikLeoSeny)Mills and Dante King .
I got a real surprise as I had not been to the forum since I posted them
thank you very much
they were a beautiful splash of colour right beside a busy street
traffic moving along all the time except that the cars/lorries stop just there behind me
at traffic lights
and I do feel a little uncomfortable taking shots like it ,
especially where people have time to sit and stare. in the comfort of their cars in this instance .
hope no one took one of me ....down on the ground almost
I can hear Sandy laughing. he takes the shots from the cars
(well he used to ..not now though and it shows ) ;)
Sandy, that yellow streak, thanks for noticing. as I am sure you all did.
it was a very special looking tulip
I thought it amazing .
it seemed as though the yellow tulips wanted to blend with the red
or even just reach out and touch it and ...did
isn't it just wonderful that people take the time and trouble to plant these bulbs . in a month when conditions are probably bitterly cold and wet.
very many thanks to all
glad you could see the beautiful flowers and colour.
their life is so brief yet they give so much joy and beauty.
we owe a lot to the people who go to the trouble (planting) in advance for our viewing pleasure when the winds can be at their coldest

Great captures, but WOW does that first pic burn my eyes looking at it. Wonder what it would look like with the saturation taken down just a hair. Like the third pic, which btw looks gorgeous.

thank you Maxima
the camera I used is the powershot pro 1 which has L series 7x optical zoom lens.
I used it's super macro mode for the single tulip.
no lens attachments added.
handheld
thanks again

I was going to post some of my flower shots from yesterday in my own thread, but I suppose this one will work just fine too. These are from an Arboretum right down the road from my house. I think they turned out pretty well. Let me know what you think!!

Fantastic colours, Marie.
The first one is my favorite. But on the 2nd, the yellow stripe in the red tells the rest of the story as you say.
