Looking to find some lead in finding cute colorful hats & other props for baby/newborn photo shoot.
Any help is appreciated.
** And of course I don't want to go bankrupt in this shopping spree too.

ok, so I'm far away but try etsy.com I love that place! (issueing WARNING: addictive site enter at your own risk!) beautiful newborn hats, cocoons, wraps, oh I could go on and on and on! Other props I'm still searching myself.
Good luck!

I'd also suggest Etsy!
Try putting an ad out on a local site like Craigslist - looking for knitters who want to have some promo photos of their work ;) a cheap and easy way to have endless knitted hats and props without the price tag.

oh, and I just went to Walmart yesterday and picked up a few baskets - and faux floor fur mats....so cute, I got 3 black/pink/white..... discount places like target sometimes have the cute wood boxes which are also great!!!! little benches (you can also make these yourself are awesome too!) second hand stores or garage sales sometimes lead to great items like old wooden trucks/tractors cheap that can be refinished if you prefer the newer look.....
...ok I'll stop now!...

I'm not too far from you, I'm in the San Gabriel Valley and yes, Blondine is right, Etsy.com is the perfect place. They have the cutest hats, cocoons, etc. and I think they are pretty reasonable too. Have fun shopping!

P.S. I bought a fluffy white bath rug from Walmart and it only cost me about $20. Love it! They had in them a few other colors too, may be the same one that Blondine spoke about. It photographs well too. How about a basket with a blanket inside of it and propping the baby in there. I think sometimes we get too technical with the word "props", and sometimes need to look "outside the box" for things around us or just be creative. Look at other newborn photography websites to get ideas too. Most people won't mind sharing their "prop" ideas. I just purchased an oversized teacup planter for a baby prop too. When you are on a budget like most of us, you learn to become creative and stretch the imagination a little more! LOL! Hope I helped you a little bit.

I can knit with my "knifty knitter" loom.
So I made some "coocoons" for a newborn shoot that never came about.
Esty really is a good place to look.

Any Idea where I can find the teacup planter? I've been looking for months. I need to find one online and have it shipped to Guam, otherwise, my mom can ship it to me if we can find one in the US. Thanks in advance for the help!

Found the teacup planter in the garden section of Walmart!
They had about 3 different designs and here is the one I purchased. Haven't used it for a baby (yet). Here is the pix I took of the teacup and my neighbor's dog.

Did you find it recently? I live in Guam so I asked my parents to see if they can find them for me at walmart and then they can purchase and ship. I checked on walmart.com and they don't show them available on there.

My parents are in Colorado Springs, CO.. Got a call today, they can't find the planter so they are gonna look again around spring time. I too looked online and couldn't find it. I found 1 on ebay but they want more for shipping than they do for the planter. I'm not willing to spend almost $100 on it including shipping.
Other props though, I recently bought 3 of the "fringed" blankets on etsy.com for $90 the lady had them marked for $50 each and I messaged her and asked if I bought all 3 if she would give a discount so she gave them to me for $30 each.. Great deal I think since the other ones on there are selling for much higher than that! I always look into buying multiples from a seller and I message them ahead of time to see if they would give a discount for that. I have found that a lot of sellers will.

I had been searching ebay for quite a while. Those planters just aren't quite what I'm looking for.. And my parents had no luck in Colorado trying to find them as well.. Guess I will just have to wait and keep watching ebay.
