These shots are very nice . . . and we don't have them yet. Our tulips are just up! As a thought or suggestion on such a pretty composition, I might take a small piece of white foam core and use to back fill some of the top shadows for a even light over the top surface of the photograph. This might still leave you with the needed darks in the 'holes' between pedals or whatever it is that flowers have.

Also for those whom can't wait for the rain, a spray mist bottle will fool the eye at times, and is predictable, well better than the weather.
