I actually really liked the first one's tonal attributes more; the face and hair look much more natural in the first.

the things the first lacks are:

-a better crop. too much space at the top.
-some more contrast. be careful here.
-some selective sharpening. sharpen for the content. so have several different sharpening areas based on whether it is skin, or hair, or eyes, or etc.

I always appreciate it when the submitted image has its EXIF data - then I can check to see if my guess about flash being used is correct or not. In this case we were lucky, and the EXIF data is present and the flash was used.

I don't like frontal or flat lighting, so this image is one with which I am not happy at the outset.

Your model is beautiful and she is in a good pose, and some of the pp that you worked on came out really great. I like what you did to her hair and I like the fact that you actually changed the expression on her face from one of grave concern (is this going to hurt?) to one of calm indifference.

Let me ask this, with all that work invested in this image, are you really satisfied with that background?

I don't like that thin little strip of black where it is in center of the bottom frame. Just crop about an 1/8th of an inch off the bottom of the picture and now your eye can travel around the image the way it should.

Sis he really change her expression? I can't tell a difference...help me out here Robert?

In shot #1 she looks like she has raised her eyebrows in a quizzical look. In the modified image her eyebrows do not appear raised and she thereby has a more calm and unruffled appearance. Each time I go back and forth between the two shots I am amazed at the difference, because I cannot tell exactly what he has done to cause that effect - other than removing that one clump of hair that came down into the outside corner of her left eye.

Removing the hair and lightening under her brow makes a difference. Not crazy about the lipstick addition. maybe something a little more subtle?

Unless my monitor has gone funky (which is possible), I think it's too dark overall. To me it doesn't really need any more than some lightening up:

that last one looks way to bright and lacks contrast. this is from a calibrated monitor.

I agree with Bob, her face does seem flat, so without sharpening the heck out of the features, the face seems OOF, and harder to edit.

Looking at this, its too blue.

Not really a fan of the PP.. The lighting is a bit harsh and it is a hard photo to work with.. You've made her forehead look blotchy and old like she has liver spots almost :)

I'm just not digging the red lips in PP

I'll play :)

- Cropped
- Lightened the background only
- Slight saturation adjustment
- Lips slightly boosted
- Minor blemish removal and skin smoothing

I left the hair in her face because I like it and it makes the picture "real".
Hope you like it/she likes it.

It's not way too bright, how recently did you last calibrate your monitor? It's a whole lot better than the original image. I'd take it any day over the original.

It is far too dark with too much contrast. Is your monitor calibrated?

Yes it is. I called it myself when I said it was too blue.used pro contrast.
I would actually call it a re take myself.

Well actually just recently to see if you were right...and it turned out, I was. It is too bright and lacks contrast.

Who are you agreeing with here Flo?
