Went birding after work with a local meetup group at a wildlife refuge near my office ... only had a 18-200mm zoon, but got a couple of shots I was decently happy with. I definitely want to go back there again now that I know the place exists, so any C&C is welcome to help me improve on these kinds of shots.

Looks like the shutter speed was pretty slow on both of them and they are a little soft.

Unfortunately, the whites are blown on the first shot.Whites and sunshine are a tough mix..and the time of day really makes or breaks these birds.
The second is OOF, is this a large crop?

My critique would be that you need to provide EXIF information in order for people to give you feedback. There's no EXIF on the images nor have you included any in your post.

Was I supposed to find the EXIF in that thread somewhere?

I just joined a local photography group and this was the first event I attended, and this was only my second experience at birding. I was shooting with the Tamron 18-200mm lens, which I realize wasn't sufficient but that's all I had. The host of our group suggested I shoot at one stop down from wide open, so aperture was at 7.1 .. the egret shot was at 1/400 ISO 200. Sorry, I didn't realize that the EXIF wasn't showing up on this post.
