My first outing with my new camera.....this photo was taken using the cameras macro mode. just croped a little and shrunk for web posting.

can you guys tell me if I can do any editing to this to make it look better?

The whites are a bit blown. Try making it a bit darker. Maybe darken the background a bit more than that afterward. Crop a bit off the right.
Pretty good pic otherwise!

Carry around a couple of nuetral reflectors to get rid of shadows. Or carry around some pieces of white paper pasted on cardboard. And ya when exposing for white objects tell you camera to underexpose a stop...usually helps. Just remember most of the time you can save a underexposed image, but a overexposed image is screwed if you ask me. Oh and your pic is really good, background is kinda wild looking like it has a motion blur.

I have to agree with the whites being overexposed, especially down the bottom. I have changed the levels in photoshop to darken the picture a little. Tell me what you guys think.

I will have to remember to underexpose the white photo's next time but is there anything in photoshop that can bring the whites down a little?

thanks...this advice has been really good!

is there anything in photoshop that can bring the whites down a little? Several things: Levels, Curves, Brightness/Contrast, masks, but the best way is to shoot RAW & make the changes there.
