PowerShot S5IS buttons not working?

the camera was working fine two weeks ago, but lately now, whenever i turn it on none of the buttons seems to do anything except for the one for taking pictures, and the red video recording one

and the only time the zoom works is when i first turn it on, after i let go it no long works till i turn it off the back on again

i've had it since sept. 07

Batteries fresh? Tried pulling all of them for a day or two (IIRC there's a button cell backup too)?

Might it have gotten wet, damp, or exposed to salt spray at some time? It certainly doesn't sound like anything you'll be able to fixhe above measures don't help. if t

yea, i tried new batteries, and that didn't change anything, after i read your post i took out the small battery you mentioned, waited a bit and put it back in, now the only difference is that it asks about the date and time now, buttons still don't work (atleast i can still take pictures and video, i just can't adjust any settings) odd that those two still work but the rest don't

is there a way to do something like a factory reset?
