Are there any?
Can anyone recommend a model?
I bet they are going to be >$500 also, sigh...

Do you really, really need the editing power of CS4 while on the go?

You could save a ton of coin by using PS Elements which combines the library of LR with some pretty effective editing tools.

I am uncertain, just trying to see what's available.
I currently use a Dell Latitude D600, Pentium M.
I forget the amount of memory.
Shrug, it works okay, though intense noise reduction via Topaz is super slow on it.
On the weekends I am NEVER home, always at my brother's house.
My only family time, niece and nephew, etc.
Thus I find myself editing there.
I am only home in the evenings after work, and not much time left there, sigh...

What about a cheap desktop solutions?
I realize those aren't very mobile.

For under $500 you will probably be able to find some entry level laptops with pretty good CPU's, but they will all probably be lower end discrete GPU's. D600's were pretty good 'lower end' dell lappies when they were new, you could probably find something about a generation or so old for $500ish that would be markedly faster than what you have now (core 2 duo type processor) and would be SMP, but its mostly new high end video cards that take full advantage of CS4.

For $500 you can do pretty decent for a desktop, but again it will totally depend on what you want to do.
