I think my husband looks mental using his gorilla tripod and wrapping it around trees and street lanterns with an attached flash to it .

Tripods are problemic in the city . Yet , this set up looks wayyy too strange for city streets ??? PPL look !!

We are testing this issue this weekend ... what do you ppl think?

I've never seen one. Do you have a photo sample?
What makes them less problematic than a standard tripod?

Those are definately cool, but I wouldn't trust attaching my dslr to it!
They may be sturdy, but my camera is heavy!

I would definately use one for my P&S, though. Looks really handy!

Its small and wraps around anything, perfect for point and shoots IMO

Hyuni.... I kinda agree with you but , I would be afraid of placing my camera upon it HOWEVER .....then there is TUPPER

Tupper..........you are wild ! We are only talking about a Q- flash and you put you BODY and Lens around a tree ?? WOW .

I certainly wouldn't put a DSLR on it, but it can really come in handy for holding a flash.

I have seen those before....could be useful in certain situations I guess. I think I would still opt for the conventional tripod whenever possible :)

I always thought those looked like more of an ebay gimmic (just like the tabletop tripods) rather then something useful. I suppose it could work for a flash though...

I have one of those used for my slave flash. Anything heavier, it kind of topples over. Very useful (Ebay 9bux free ship Hong Kong special)

i own a gorillapod, and love the thing, but i know what you mean about weird looks, i mean, how would you not have weird looks, looking like this
i have had many weird looks when using it, but, as long as you get the photo you want, who cares

My advice tho, before you put your camera on a railing over a dam, put the settings you want on the camera first.

<edit>
sorry about the poor quality image, and the size, i am hopeless at photoshop

What is the max load capacity of a Gorilla pod?

This model called the Focus GP8 holds 11 pounds. It's the 100.00 version though...

IDDY ... thanks for the pic I am sure you are all tangled and wrapped up nicely with your gorilla ... LOL.. I LIKE IT !

I like It ..........I was impressed at it however , being as perfect as I am I { snicker } certainly I can see how a Gorilla tripod can get stress out of your system by fixing the " balls " straight ......hahahaha

Thanks again .. Yola

How did things go on the weekend?

I think you need to figure out how he can look "cute" instead of "mental" using his gorilla pod.
Maybe he needs a different haircut, or different eyeglasses?
Better clothes?
Maybe if he didn't drool while he was setting it up? :)
