Lighting set up for groups indoor

Have 3 alien bees and wondering light set up use one shoot thru or multiple shoot thru's.

How big is your group and do you have elevation?

I would say two bounced off the ceiling (if possible and one shoot-through for just enough fill and catchlights.

16 and a high ceiling church. Was going to go with outside edge of group with shoot thur umbrellas and one more overhead of me to help with background shadows

If you're outside and the existing light is decent (aka, you're using flash only as a fill), you should be good to go, but if you're using multiple flash pointed AT the group, and the flash acts as the main lighting, you might end up with multiple shadows (3 directions if I'm reading your description correctly).
