All day I have been sitting here in my gray cubicle, keeping busy but not really anything pressing that needs to get done. To start with, it is absolutely gorgeous outside, no clouds and warm as can be. Normally that would be bad enough, but I have gotten used to dealing with that.

But tomorrow is Thunder Over Louisville, which kicks off the Kentucky Derby Festival with a huge air show and fireworks display. I work about two miles from the airport, in line with the runways.

All day long, every manner of military aircraft (jet, helicopter, prop planes) have been flying over and around my building at fairly low altitude. All the while I am stuck in here listening to the amazing sounds while my camera is sitting in my car just begging to snap some shots of all of this!!!!!!!

And to make matters worse, my 2 year old just got a sinus infection so I won't be able to go get any shots during the actual show either.

I hear ya...

For twenty years, my "day job" has taken me to some of the biggest sporting events in the world (Super Bowls, World Series, Daytona 500, Stanley Cup Finals...) and I don't have a single in-action image from any of them.

And while I've been schlepping all over the place working my azz off televising these wonderful events, I've missed out on 1001 events going on at home while I'm gone.

There was a time, of course, when the work was inspiring and enjoyable. Not so much any more... It's still a unique line of work I suppose but like every other industry, the bean counters have taken control and the bottom line now trumps all. Damn shame too 'cause TV used to be a very people-driven world.

Sorry for the mini-rant...

Sorry your little one is ill. Hope there is rapid imrovement.

What window?! I'm on the second floor of a friggin warehouse, all I have are gray walls and more gray walls...lol

After typing this and listening to the roar for 15 minutes straight I said the hell with it and went out to the parking lot to grab my camera. Guess what...nothing flew over for 20 minutes but two commercial airliners!!

Thanks for the well wishes for the little one. This is his first big illness, so its a little scary, but I am sure he will be fine.

Well, can we at least get a pic of a gray wall at f22 so we can see how dirty your sensor is and at the same time see how accurate AWB is on your camera?

;):D

Work? I thought POTN was work for most of us. No?;)
