www.woophy.com (http://www.woophy.com/)

On this site you can store and show your pictures geographically.

You upload your picture and it is placed automatically on a world map

To travel the world in a few clicks is just great

trying it out... looks all new... all beta too

in the collection view, all my pics have been geographically labelled as American Samoa - on the drop down menu (country-name-look up) it showed Australia had been selcted when I was uploading.

Well the file uploader is singular, so every pic needed the fields filled in every time. A tad painful.

I had a similar idea a coupla years ago, but the money angle is difficult. Using the drivers like envy and rivalry (oneupmanship) and status I envisaged a site based on geography like yours, but it was to be aimed at honeymoon happysnaps (which there are millions of). A fun aspect was the accommodation/resort review aspect where the ugly truth and the scandals could see the light of day.
(Deep background here) I had a cutter and the requisite HF marine radio and you could eavesdrop on the radio telephone (ship-to-shore) calls from hundreds of honeymooners on the cruise ships. They are always arranging air tickets, answering mum's questions about 'bedroom problems', crying whilst whimpering for a divorce, rowing with mothers in law about the wedding or trashing their new husband or the resort or cruiseship services. Good stuff. I hardly ever heard a male use the phone, always the brides, always harping on hotel XYZ or bridesmaid scandals etc. Can't say I remember wedding photographer being mentioned. Good material for books there. Honeymoons!

Carzee,

Very interesting angle, as photographers we are all voyeurs, thanks also for your comment on woophy too. We are aware of the things you mentioned but for the moment this is not solvable (has to do with msql)

Thanks

Joris;)

If you really want to know... This has something to do with the fact that sub queries are not possible in our version of Mysql.

As soon as we upgrade American Samoa should be were it ought to be

I think advertising is the wrong word, 'putting it under the attention' is maybe better chosen :D

Pretty cool way to look at shots. I'll have to add some and put Torrance on the map.

I'm still waiting for your pictures :) There are no pictures of your place on Woophy, so it is a good moment to start with it.

Sadly Woophy is blocked here in the UAE, it is mistaken for a dating site, an thus judged immoral, I have tried to request unblocking but no luck so far. Perhaps someone can ask woophy to write.
