Which would you buy? I've read all the reviews and can't decide. The A40 is about $50 cheaper w/3x zoom....but I can't get over the "coolness" of the S200. I really like the idea of just sticking it in my pocket.

Overall, which one shoots the best quality photos, or will I really notice a difference?? I currently have a Sony Mavica FD71....anything will be an improvement.

Any help from you all on which of these 2 to buy would be great. BTW - I also have my eye on the Olympus D550z (same price as S200 but 3MP)

I was undecided among those two cameras also. I chose the A 40 because I wanted the 3X zoom. I also wanted to use rechargable AA batteries instead of expensive specialized ones. When in Circuit City, the sales person took a pic with the S200 and printed out the pic. I was not impressed with how it looked. I love my A 40.

Hi Derrick,

I have used the A40(2500+pics) for the past 6 months and although I stepped up to the Canon Pro90IS, I still love my A40!! It is truly one of the best 2 megapixel cameras on the market today. Picture quality is excellent-8 X 10 Prints come out looking like great Lab "film" prints. TheA40 is loaded with features, plenty of creative control. Great Ergonomics, has a solid feel to it. AA NiMh 1800mha batteries last 200+ pics, w\LCD screen-and the price has dropped with many retailers offering a 64meg flash card free!!!! Mine has performed flawlessly!!

If you have time, here is my Picture Portfolio (75% is from A40!) to see what I'm talking about!

Good Luck and Happy New Year!!

I too had the same dilema before making my choice 3 months ago.

i opted for the A40 over the S200 for the following reasons.
1- the manual features of A40, not with S200
2- can use AA rechargables
3- 3x optical zoom
4- can add optional lenses

however if you are not interested in most of these features i would go with the S200 cos of the size.
hope this helps you reach a decision, either way i think that both take excellent photos,
louise
