The moon has always been one of my favorite subjects. Now, with the 100-400, I can actually do it some justice.

I like it. What was your exif on this shot?

Wow, after looking at the exif, i realize how little I know, not even tip of the iceburg.

Please pardon my ignorance. Normally the light reflected from the moon is quite dim, but i saw you set your aperture to f8. Is that the widest when you zoomed in at 400mm? If no, why not use the widest aperture? I assume DOF doesn't come into play when using the widest f since the moon is so far away, correct? Thanks in advance.

I've played with moon shots for quite a while. I've always gotten the best results at 8. Dunno why, but I do. I generally set it at f8 and take 10 pictures or so at various shutter speeds. A full moon can force 1/300 or higher at ISO 100. The moon is actually quite bright. Remember, it's basically reflecting direct sunlight.

I see. Thanks for the clarification. I definitely need to save up a little more to get one of those.
