Just playing around with coloring BW using layers.

I think the colors ruin the shot, I think it would make a great black and white. Be better if the depth of fied was shallower (is that a word?) To just get the car in, I find im getting distracted by the people in the background.

Thanks Michael. I was just playing around, and since the car was mostly black I thought I would bring out the few colors it did have.
The people in the background were everywhere. It's so hard to get a good shot at these car shows. Unfortunately, that's how it was.
BTW, I think shallower might just be a word. If not, at least I knew what you meant.
Again. . . thanks for the comments.

Here's another one, with not so many distractions. I wish I would have framed this shot a little better to get the right front wheel in the pic, but. . .oh well.

I think this shot would be much more interesting, if the car was B&W and the rest of the scene was in color. As, it would emphasize it's being from another time.

Coversely, for me, the color in the car draws the eye to the car, and away from the background which, for me, is slightly busy.
I kinda' dig it as is...

Thanks Steve, that's what I kind of had in mind. I'm glad someone agreed with me. :D :D :D

I like both shots John, but really like the minimal color in the 1st one! Really sets it off.

Thanks Ken, I appreciate your input.
I see from your signature that you have used the Monaco calibration software. I think I'm going to give that a try sometime in the near future. I haven't been able to post with any confidence. I assume from viewing your posts that the system must be working pretty well for you.
I have an uncalibrated LCD monitor at home, and an old dying monitor at work. I can't trust either, so I just guess and hope for the best. Thanks again for looking, and for the positive comments.

I think that I would like it better if the colors and the B&W were inverted. Make the people and background in color while the roadster is in B&W. Kind of like looking back in time.

Thanks Troy. I had the same suggestion from Steve Parr earlier. I'll have to play around with that iea. The problem is, I think it might look a little too much like the original shot, since the car had so little color to start with. My experience with layers is pretty minimal at this stage, so I probably took the easy way out. . . :D. Thanks for the input.

Actually Steve Parr liked it with the car in color.

My apologies Airedale1, and also to Steve Parr. I was at work when I responded. I guess I was distracted and got the wrong name. Thanks for correcting me. They really shouldn't make me work during the day, when I could be on this forum doing fun stuff. . . .. I'll try to not let that happen again.

You just need to find a job where you can do both.;)
