This game is to help those of us who are trying to learn new tricks when it comes to editing.
Here's the breakdown of the game. I will post a picture that I choose, resized to exactly 1024 pixels maximum on the long side. Outside of being resized it has to be unedited...meaning no adjustments to any levels, it has to look like it did as it came out of the camera.
The game will last 72hrs and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.
The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.
You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.
Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.
If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before & After #179".
This is all about having fun so have at it!!!
This round will end Tuesday April 21st at 2:45 pm CST
This is a pic that didn't make it into a series of 'cow' pics... They were chasing me down because they thought I had food( I was on a four wheeler)...when they realized I didn't, they showed their angry faces.. have fun:)

I decided to go OOB with this one.
First I adjusted the levels, contrast, color, curves, color balance & did some channel mixing, brightened & more contrast, hit it with some of the burn tool and some selective sharpening, cloned out all the ear tags, made the tree line a 2nd layer, adjusted the gamma, shadows/highlights, did some burning, reversed the image, then did the steps for OOB.

Not a great one, I was limited on time.
I got the idea from the Black Sheep poster. I was going to try to cut the cows and paste them on some background with an eerie moon. That turned out to be too much for the little time I had for it.
So here's what I did. (Gimp)
Cropped the sides.
Upped contrast and saturation a bit to boost colors.
Inverted colors.
Added supernova effect.
Painted over and blurred out a few cow tags.
Added text, then enlarged that layer to give the text a little different feel. (btw, my text is from the poster to 28 Weeks Later)

Selected ruler tool – ran along edge of grass and used Image>Image Rotation>arbitrary to straighten.
Cropped
Burn tool on trees and some of the ground
Duplicate layer – multiply 30% fill
With apologies to Kendoway – I had a Kendoway moment, but no movie poster…I couldn’t figure out what else to do…but those cows looked mean – possessed…after your soul…you know what I mean? :)

If I have my times right I think it closed 20 minutes ago.
I had a hard time doing anything with it until I remembered the Black Sheep poster. That got me thinking. I think BitterSweet's edit is brilliant, though I don't have the skill to do that.

Ok so this was kinda disappointing..Not the edits, the lack of. I know the picture is not a good one(why I never did anything with it) but I thought people could get really creative thinking about cows trying to kill them..I mean that is scary! haha..
So anyway, next time I will pick a better one.
This round I am giving to Lore, I liked that you really put the emphasis on the red cow she was the HBIC! I also love how you took out the tags & added the tree line. Oh and it really seemed like they were cornering someone:)
Bittersweet, I liked the colors they were on point.
and the others, good efforts as well!

WOO HOO! Thank You... ya, I was COMPLETELY shocked as well with the insane amount of participation we had in the last round & the complete lack of in this round... I thought it was a great photo for toying around with... maybe my edit was just TOO good and no one wanted to compete  JUST KIDDING :p
For a photo edit, Bitter Sweet, your edit was AWESOME.
#179 is UP... Have Fun!

Congrats Lore! Great OOB work there - I can never get the shadows right...
Nice edits everybody -- some a little wilder than I was expecting :-)
There was nothing wrong with the photo brennasg -- just not enough free time to try this one.

I add the shadows on a separate layer I add the layer on top of the OOB part and draw w/ a paint brush right on top of the OOB layer ( if this is making sence ... to think I USED to write step by step manuals... weird ) anyway... with a lowered opacity and flow brush & then I pull *the shadow layer* to the bottom and lower the opacity bar even more until I think its at light as I like...
I see it 'written' a bunch of different more complicated ways online... this is my easier made up way to do it. *shrug* works for me ;)

That sounds way easier than what I've tried before -- Will have to give it a try! Thanks Lore.

Gah! I parked a bookmark on my desktop for this contest, but got distracted by to many other bright and shiny things in the POTN universe (like trying to figure out how Monty is so %$#@ good at the WAIN game :) ).
I was going to do a fake cover for "ATV Rider" magazine along the lines of "What Happens When Killer Cows Attack Your Ride!". Oh well, the Psycho Poster took up gobs of time, so it's just as well.
Congrats Lore - awesome entry! Bittersweet, I really liked yours as well.
