I kinda like it, but for some reason it seems slightly too soft overall.

Oversaturated?

my eyes cant see the softness..but I will play around and see if I can tell a difference.

Well, with this particular pic the saturation was intended.. I could pull back some but I probably wouldnt want to do to much.

I like this photograph but I believe it could be a better photograph it you got rid of that shadow cast.

his? or the trees in the background?

Very oversaturated colors, overexposed shirt, fringing on tree branches. The "emotion" seems okay.

His shadow cast, unless there was some significance to it.

Did you do something to the top of the image? It looks like you GNDed it, but it does not look to great to me. If its part of the image I guess it cannot be helped.

ok here is new edit.. do we like this better?

As for the gnd.. the sky was sort of like that but yes I darkened it up quite a bit.

AlphaChicken

Yeah, I think that is already a huge improvement! :)

try b&w the photo and color the flowers on the hanging branch

Flo

I just can't get around how saturated this is, but thats me, I would be tempted to take the sky out and crop to the top of the limb? Then desaturate the whole thing.lol..

I'm sorry but personally the image doesn't do much to me. It is quite over saturated and a bit soft.

Brenna.does this do anything for ya?

When photos are over-saturated, you tend to see alot of noise and the colors become harsh instead of flattering? Kids I like seeing brighter, but if you were to take this and stick an old truck or something under the blossom.lol..

Thanks AC..but I know Brenna likes the more contrasted look. Would have loved his face looking at the blossoms into the camera;)

That last one is better. Compare the sky in this one with the sky in the earlier ones, I see a huge difference in the saturation problem. I believe the softness referred to earlier is most visible in the ground covering on the left of the child.

Was this shot all in natural lighting conditions?

I liked your edit..I just dont want to crop in that tight. I like the way the branches frame the shot. In that last edit I did I did tighten it up some. Oh I wish he was looking at me too!! 18 month olds...:)

Oh just looks like a flash was used. Due to the shadow of the kid.

Metalstrm

Definitely flashed.

Flo

The sky and the trees overhead just detract from the entire photo to me, I really don;t see them as a frame so to speak..just me and my take.maybe a reshoot with him facing the camera!;)

brennasg
20th of April 2009 (Mon), 20:35
Well... I am 99% sure I didn't use my flash..and even though it is built in, on my point and shoot I have to flip it up manually or it doesnt work. I never use my flash outside unless its dark (ie bad lighting in retouch photo).. He was on an incline.. the sun was on its way down which is one of the reasons its of his back, he was doing his thing and I didnt move to the front so I wouldnt shoot into the sun.

So we didn't like the last edit??

Gail- maybe next year! The trees are shedding.. and poor thing couldnt hardly walk up that little hill, which is why he just plopped down there. One of the only times he was still all day! haha
