I made my way into the Pundershaw stages for this one. I was accompanied by a strange creature known as "Petrolhead" who apparently lurks around POTN sometimes...It started off dull & overcast and...stayed that way!
The Historics were up first...
1. Sunbeam Tiger - these sound lovely!

2. Jeremy Easson's gorgeous Ford Capri RS3100 - not many of these around, even fewer being used for Rallying these days!
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/geoff.hubbert/Pics/Images%202009/Pirelli/Pirelli09-0449.jpg
3. The shape of things to come in the WRC?. Guy Wilks was absolutely flying in his Proton Satria S2000....until a fire on SS8 totally gutted the car.

4. Winners of the International event - Keith Cronin & Greg Shinnors in a Lancer Evo9

5. Always well & truly on a charge - Steve Bannister in his MK2 Escort

6.Nik Elsmore/Craig Drew in another Evo 9..

7. Always good to see the Armed Forces Land Rovers out. What they lack in pace they make up for in effort !

Just install C1 on your lapdog and bring it to Croft one day.
I spend enough time in front of this PC fannying around with pictures as it is! :D

Can't fault them technically Geoff - all sharp and good DoF, but they just lack a little something for me. They're all a bit samey and apart from the Cronin shot they all lack a bit of action.
Just my thoughts of course,
Rhod.

I think you'll enjoy it Jim. Peter (Petrolhead) was only using his for the second time today and seems happy with it.
Just to set the scene for where were stood today..if you look at the right hand side of #4 you'll see a bit of a tree. We couldn't see the cars at all until the were clear of that point, so there was very little time to track the cars and let the AF lock on...that's how good a combination the MK2N and 120-300 is in my experience.
A further update on Guy Wilks' troubles. Apparently he clipped the exhaust after running wide which pushed it onto the bumper. The heat set fire to the bumper and about a mile from the end of the stage the car went up in a big way. A real shame is it was visibly quicker than anything else with the exception of a few WRC cars.

#4 is a great shot Geoff love the loose stones, I will find a differance from the 40D, what happened to Morrow?

#4 and #6 are a couple of cracking shots Geoff.
Looks like I missed a good day. Still the car is washed, grass is cut and the hedges are trimmed............

Simon's in a better position to comment on the 40D, but whilst the 50D is close in AF performance, the MK2N just has that little bit extra in terms of speed & accuracy...
I have no idea about Morrow, he's listed as "stopped SS5".

Oh good a clean car for our trip to Cadwell....you might want to bring a stick to prod me with too. I doubt if a bucket of coffee will do the trick in the morning :)

Great shots Geoff, some nice colours, really sharp and you have caught some good action, hope the track into Pundersahaw wasn't too bad.

Cheers Ian.
The road was a bit bumpy in places but not too bad and certainly not as bad as i had read elsewhere. Thanks for the info.

Nice shots Geoff. We walked past that spot, well I assume so as we yomped for miles! The Tiger came a cropper on the previous corner to where we were. Took him a while to get out but did eventually get away. The speccies on that corner were kept busy as there were plenty of cars running off, one rolling. Great day out!:D

We assumed you'd wandered further in after seeing Kev's car at the "car park". I'm guessing you went to the loop a bit further on?. To be honest i should have gone there myself but i mis-judged the distance a bit so settled for where i ended up.
Glad to hear other speccies were kept busy as i had a nice quiet day.....it didn't stop me taking a deep breath every time a Fiesta passed by though !

As Peter said in his thread i drove very slowly...to be honest i think i 'll be doing less rallies in future.
I noticed as we left they were trying to charge £10 for parking. Like yourselves we got there early and avoided it but there's no way i'm paying to park on forest track with the potential to damage a new car. Then there's the idiots who sit on your rear bumper as you drive carefully out of the forest...strange how they rapidly become a speck in the rear view mirror when you get back on tarmac though... ;)
