Problems with Videos on my Power shot A80

When downloading the video clips from my digital camera they play using the software provided by Canon. However, I can not get them to play on any other software like microsoft, real player etc. It always says that the format is not recognised. I seem unable to change the files format to rectify the situation. Does anyone have some ideas?

Can't answer your question I'm afraid, but you are probably best off asking it in the forum for canon compact digitals.
It isn't really a question for the pro's :)
