Hello,
I have a S30 camera and today the LCD is dead. The camera is OK ( flash, zoom, it can take pictures ) but the LCD is dead in camera mode and in playback mode too.
Anybody has the same problem?. The camera is in warranty but only in US and Canada and I live in Spain. Anybody knows the cost to repair it?
Thank you in advanced
Best regards,

sounds like your screwed to me. could be the power supply to the LCD screen could have broke off on some sort of impact. You may want to send it into the US powershot factory and have them take a look at it. It would prolly cost a hundred or so dollars, but it may be worth it depending on whats wrong with the camera. If you have any relatives in the states, hvae the camera sent to them, and then they can send it back to you for a much more minimal cost.

I dropped my most precious wonderful S30 and broke the LCD. The camera itself still worked like you say yours does, but I was unable to see the screen. I wish I would have kept it and just dealt with it. I took all my photos on AUTO anyways because they always came out perfect. But no, I had to take it back to Best Buy and they no longer carried the S30 so I had to take an S50. What a mistake! The color chip is different from the S30. They changed from the wonderful RGB color chip in the S30 to a CMYG color chip in the S50's. Why oh why would Canon change something so wonderful? If it ain't broke, why fix it? Dummies! The S50 is NOT GOOD. The pictures are missing something. The quality of color is not there. I miss my S30. My advice is to get it fixed or deal with it. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT get an S50. It is not an upgrade but a disapointment!

I have the same problem. I actually pulled the camera apart and noticed the LCD is working, but the 'backlight' isn't. Bummer. Guess I'll just have to contact Canon and give them a heap of cash...
Anyone have a similar problem/solution?

Problem solved... decided to pull it apart again and look further. Discovered the little power connector (buried a bit) had come away from the circuit board. A delicate bit of soldering and fixed!
This might be a common problem - it's a pretty delicate connector, and that last time I dropped it....

I dropped my s230 yesterday, I can BARELY see the image on the LCD if i tilt the camera just right.
Other than that, everything works fine...
does this mean my LCD is broken? or could my backlight be disconnected too?
there's a TINY rattling sound also.
help!
