Which flash ?

Hello

I'd like that you help me choosing a flash unit.
I am currently looking at 430 EX II or 580 EX II i already have the off camera cord that a friend gave me. In macro and everyday photography which one would you choose ? I must say that the price difference between the two at the local retailers is not very noticeable. So lets just say i get a diffuser mount the flash off camera and go try to take some real world pictures which one would be a better buy. Might do the occasional portrait or a family gathering, but most of the time it would get used for macro.

(please note i do not have the money to get the dedicated macro rigs)

I'm not sure it would make a huge difference between those 2 flashes for macro work as you rarely need the extra power of a 580. I use 430Exs for my macro shots.

If their is not much difference in the price then grab the 580, I have one and think they are excellent. You can also use it to command another flash if you end up moving on to a 2 flash set up. The extra power can also come in handy in certain circumstances.
