I decided to visit one of our local wildlife parks and borrowed a friends 70-200f 4L (I normally use a 75-300 IS). Well, the difference in pics is absolutely amazing and I always thought that the 75-300 IS could hold it's own. Not any more! The pics from the 70-200 straight out of the camera were far better than the processed pics from the 75-300 IS. Here's a couple of samples for you.

Great shots, Paul. I can tell you screwed up and it will cost you. Oh well, it's only money. I understand you can take lenses with you.

I like that last one, very cool looking bird. Do you know what it is?

This is a blue winged Kookaburra, a member of the Kingfisher family from Northern Australia. The "regular" "Kookaburras we get are called laughing kookaburras and make a hell of a racket and really sound like they're laughing!

Thanks all for the comments. Well, it didn't take me long, I ordered a 70-200 f4 from B&H last night and it should arrive within a week. It's be nice if it was a 70-300 but beggars can't be choosers! I look forward to posting some more as time goes on.
I heard "L" was addictive but didn't realise that it took hold so quickly!!

Oh yes,. "L" Fever has spread to the other side of the world!

Great shots..

Now to get that 300mm range,. you just need to pick up a 1.4X T-con ;)

LOL,is that koala a pro model trained by the zoo? It seems to have it's pose all worked out,lol
All the ones i've seen have that 'pissoffandletmegobacktosleep' look :)

Interesting kookaburra-never heard of that particular type.

Congrat's on your new toy. I also have the 75-300 IS so i better not go near any L zooms i suspect!
