I got a PQI 512mb CF in a kit with my D-reb and I'm ver dissapointed. I recently took the camera on a trip and the battery fell out while the photo's were backing up and the CF has never been the same since. I lost about 100 of 300 pictures that first time and since then all of my picture sets have had about 10% of the pics damaged (I've shot with it twice since). Now when I turn the cam on with that card in it constanly returns ERR 02 and doesn't work. I've tried formatting but it hasn't helped.

Any suggestions on fixing the CF card? Any suggestions on a new CF card for my D-reb? I shoot Jpeg mostly high speed sports action. Thanks.

Try formatting it on your PC

Does the card have any warranty? Check their web site and look for troubleshooting and/or support. Also contact them about sending it back to the for repair or replacement. Also if you haven't had it too long check the store that you bought it from.

since you lost battery power while writing to the card thier are proably sections on the card which are forever ruined. Compact flash is the exact same type of flash as BIOS for firmware. You cant turn off the power or you run the possibiliity of ruining the flash card.

That's probably what happened, that sucks. Oh well you live and learn, thanks for the info. Any suggestions on a replacement for action photo's?

Hi
Do you use Norton utillities (part of Norton works) put the card in the a card reader and run check disk sellect that drive. there is also windows check/scan disk this sort of program may work I've used it to sort a microdrive with corupt files before, its worth a try, but i think to be safe i would not be using on any important work until fully reliable.
hope this is helpful.

I personally would never trust the card again! As someone has said try and get the card replaced under warantee - It has obviously 'failed' under 'normal' use.

Use a card reader to download your pics to the PC - this does not depend upon the camera battery(s)

You could try a data recovery utility. Look at
http://www.mediarecover.com/
There is a trial version which will at least let you know if your card has left for the next world.
Dealer should replace the card if faulty. I had one replaced after 2 years....by an on-line dealer....overseas!

Toss it. It's toast.

Most "lifetime" warranties are for the lifetime of the product, not your lifetime. Lifetime of the product can be whetever number the manufacturer places on it. Read the fine print.

This is from one of PQI's CF card FAQ's at their site. Probably if you can't format it, this won't do much for you, but worth a shot. Maybe email PQI and see what they can do for you if anything.

"Check this card by a card reader or adapter under Windows OS.
Right click the card’s removable disk’s icon to choose properties—tools.
Run the function of “Error-checking status” and “Defragmentation Status”, and then format it by your digital camera, PDA, etc. If the function could not work or the problem persists, please take it to the original purchase place for the retail warranty service."
