Spent an enjoyable weekend over in Cumbria for the 2009 Pirelli Rally which was in effect five separate rallies. There was some great action over the event and it was very dry and dusty. A long delay on Saturday was caused by Guy Wilks' new proton going up in smoke, really gutted for him, he is a local driver who I was covering this weekend. the delay was caused by the car fire setting fire to the forest so they had to call in the county fire brigade and as anybody who knows Kielder will know the nearest fire engine is some distance away. Anyway onto some photos.

Cracking set Ian and it was good to see you again. If I had to pick a favorite I would probably plump for the one of Dodd ... cracking action with the flying rocks.

Are you tempted by the Somerset? ;)

Good selection Ian from a great days rallying. Shame about Wilks - the car looked cracking and was doing well. Euan Thorburn had a similar issue but managed to get the fire out before any serious damage was done. Great day out but legs are still recovering!

Stunning shots as usual Ian, lots of action and very sharp. I'll go with the O'Connell, Dodd and Cookson shots as the pick of the bunch.

All the best,

Rhod.

Thanks Kipper, I really hope Wilks get the car rebuilt and back out as he proved how competitive it was.
