Another shot from Crater Lake. This one shows Wizard Island from standing in the same spot as the other shot. Bummer that the clouds had most of the Lake and the Island in the shade. Crater Lake is a beautiful shoot if you ever get down that way. I enjoy the clouds in this shot too.
What do you think? Worth posting for your enjoyment?

That has GOT to be photoshopped water... right? Right? That is way too pretty to be real....
I would love to go on a shoot there!

That's a fine shot, Mr Chevy. Crater Lake is one of the most gorgeous spots on earth. I've been there three times, and the water can be the bluest, and smoothest, of any place I've ever been. Truly a special place.

Hi Ken
Nice image, as was the first one you posted, and although this is not a critique section, you are asking for comments, so i hope you don't mind
when i say that personally i think you've overdone the post processing a little. Could you possible post the original, out of camera image, so that we can compare the two?
Fantastic location BTW.

Of course it is Photoshopped water, it real life it looks bluer than that. Beautiful place to shoot. In its deepest area it is over 1900 feet deep and really clear, that is why it is so blue.

Thanks Stan! You have some beautiful shots of Crater Lake on your website. Very beautiful blues in the water. Love 'em.
I agree, a very special place.

No problem at all Alan, we all have different likes/dislikes as far a post processing goes. I like my photos to have a lot of POP and saturation. That would be very crazy of me to think everyone would like the way I do my photos. Feel welcome to pull it into PS and re-work it and re-post it in this thread the way you would like it to look. I would be interested in seeing that.
A screen shot of the ACR screen pulling it into PS:

I lightened it in places and darkened it in others. Sounds like you would like the one right out of the camera?
I'm a member of another board where photographers will NOT show you what the original looks like. It is all about the final photo. It is all different these days... back with slides, what you shot is what you got. There would probably be 50% less photographers today if instantly all the Digital cameras disappeared and people had to shoot slides, and there was no Photoshop. http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif
Thanks for asking Alan.

I suppose some would suggest to DaVinci that the Mona Lisa looks un-natural. Perhaps the colors aren't the same as his, therefore not "right". There are many different tastes, we can't expect everyone to like the same qualities. Furthermore, monitors vary quite a lot to confuse things even more. Photos that look good on my laptop (LCD) often look too saturated on a CRT, depending on its attributes. It all comes down to personal opinions, and we all have one (or more).
I do know that people who have never seen Crater Lake have trouble believing how blue it can appear at times. It is the clearest lake in the world (by test), so unlike any other you might judge by.

Wow A great picture, but maybe a bit too much post processing, you can see it a bit too clearly from the clouds (they seem to be more yellow-green than white) otherwise it's fantastic.

I pretty much agree with the sentiment that it may have been over-processed just a tad if one were the type to enjoy photographs as original as possible...I can't say I really mind much though...It's a nice photograph regardless...

Thanks for that Stan. Yep, that is what it is all about, how "we" see the world. Thanks for commenting.

Ken this may be a dumb question, but how do you do your screen shots and post them in the thread?

The image reminds me of color infra red. Almost like chrome on steriods.
That's a beautiful area, especailly with some snow on the slopes.

I just push the PRINT SCREEN button, that puts a screen shot of the screen into the copy buffer.
Then into Photoshop and CTRL N to open a new blank image... and then CTRL V to PASTE the screen shot into that blank image... then we can CROP it or whatever we want to do with it. :D :D
http://mrchevy.com/pscreen02.jpg
You can crop part of that shot, or make a screen shot of the screen then...
http://mrchevy.com/pscreen03.jpg
or enlarge to Actual size and crop out the part you want.

Why are you so slow in learning that Sandy? Geeeez, I learned how to do that... ummm, 3 days, 13 hours, 25 minutes and 29 seconds ago. !!
Naw, just pulling your leg Sandy, I think it has been 10 years since I learned that ... but maybe longer, I might have had a program to do that back when I was running DOS3.1 ... but I know I couldn't do it when I was running CP/M or Zcpr3 back in the early 80's.
Glad to be of service... now let's see some screen shots from you :)
And last, but not least, Thank you for taking a look and enjoying it (the Two Rocks shot).
