Took a short trip to the abandoned psychiatric hospital just to get a feel for the place before I go back to get whole coverage

Doesn't look like it's been abandoned very long.

That's what I was thinking....great shots though! The colors really give it an eerie feeling.

The majority of it closed in 1996, with small parts staying open into the early 2000's.
The hospital closed in 1996 following a 1993 investigation by Richard Codey (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Codey), during which he went undercover at the hospital and found rampant patient abuse, wasteful spending, and other illegal practices

Just out of curiosity... Do you need permission to enter an abandoned building?

Legally, yes. But if you don't get caught what's the difference?

Just a thought crossed my head... for those people sneaking into abandoned psychiatric ward at night... and a passer by sees the strobes flashing, would they think of some metaphysical/alien stuff going on inside...
#3 is nice, but here's my edit. Let me know if you don't like it and want me to take it off:

haha funny enough, when I went back today a friend and I were caught right outside of a building. we just walked over to the car and respectfully explained ourselves, and he went on about how he really should have us arrested, but diddnt wanted to go fishing instead of filling out the paperwork

I definatly see where you were going with the edit, but i was going for the recently abandoned creepy white look, but thanks for trying an edit, i dont see people doing that enough

yep, and pretty much as easy as can be if you know the points of entry, but i could see how it could be difficult otherwise. The place is known more for it's security and tight enforcement by the (quite overstaffed) local PD

Great images. The hallway shot is my favorite.
