i love the portrait. im not fond of the hand position, though. i think it would have looked twice as good if the fingers were interlocked or something of the sort.

Stooping to a larger aperture and seperating the subject from the wal would have blurred the background even more and created for better seperation.

Try smoothing out the background waves in photoshop

For me the lighting is a bit flat, muted, lacking in contrast and shadow etc.
