R/C planes are my other hobby. These are some shots I've taken there and I figured the best place to post them was here at transportation. Any C&C are welcome. Thanks for looking.

You have some nice ones there, but they should be in the "Share" section, so I'm moving it.

Nice series. That's a hobby I'd like to have, but, me flying an RC plane would be like me throwing my 17-55 on the ground. :)

Cool. That is something that I have always wanted to try, but I seem to have collected too many hobbies as it is and not enough time for any of them!!

Whats real cool with Sailplanes, other than staying up for hours on end.. lolz.
Its the perfect platform to mount a camera on and take cool inflight shots. Stable and no engine vib..

It's something everyone should give a try. You either find it absolutely pointless and boring or you can't get enough. Starting out with decent equipment shouldn't run you more than $400. I know that's $400 more to go before that L glass you've been wanting but then again, you want something new to shoot, don't you?:D
By-tor, I was born in the mid 80's! Bogota is a nice place to start off but it tends to get somewhat boring

Speaking of cameras on R/C planes, did you lot see the guy here that has been arrested after mounting a camera to his plane and getting up close and personal with a domestic airliner?
There's an article here.... http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national/804351/toy-plane-passenger-jet-in-near-miss

Thanks for sharing. I shoot R/C events locally & used to build & fly so now I'm combining both hobbies without having to pay repair costs after a crash. About the most interesting thing I have come across is a plane outfitted with a video camera that transmits what it's seeing down to the ground, from there the signal is fed into a set of goggles inside a hood. The pilot of the plane can wear the hood and is therefore seeing what he would if in the plane. I didn't get to see a flight last year but will make a point of both seeing it in action plus try the hood on to see just how real the view is.
A few photos with notes are here.

If you go to youtube and type FPV (First person view) into the search engine it will give you lots of examples of what the pilots see. I have to say I am pretty amazed and with the latest radio gear flights can be made of miles rather than a few hundred feet.
A importer a few miles down the road from where I live can supply all the camera/video equipment and they even have googles that display a primitive head up display now, basically showing altitude, airspeed, compass heading etc.
Not quite sure that I agree with flying the models over populated areas, I used to be very into RC aircraft and have seen many a crash and I personally wouldn't like one to hit me. At least on the flying line you were keeping half an eye out on the models flying..
Well worth a hour of browsing..
