How far would you go?

I want to ask this question after I heard the following of a good friend of mine (19 years).

The friend (which is a girl) is a person who is also busy in photography (has an Sony A700.) Her dad is also in photography and is following courses, now the father had some homework, that was a naked photo shoot of a person and he would like to use his daughter for this which is understandable because her daughter is a pretty girl.

But even in a professional way I think that this goes to far, I understand that he needs someone and his daughter is a beauty, but if I was in the position of the father I would never dare to ask such thing.
And if I was in the daughters position I think I would have get strange thoughts about my dad, but the sweetheart she is she said that she needs to think about it.

Am I just an "non" professional thinker about this and quite whining or do you agree with me? Please let me get your opinion for this.

Ps. Maybe this has to do with my age (only 19) but photography is something I take very serious. And would like to know your opinions.

Maybe suggest a bathing suit type photo.
My guess is he wouldn't fail his class with that? ???
Or concentrate on a body part that the person couldn't be recognized with ex. legs

I personally wouldn't want to do it or support it

I dont think that is appropriate for a father to ask of his daughter.

That is just asking for legal trouble if she is not an adult and even if she is an adult, i think it is morally questionable.

Better to chose his wife or even better a model using it as TFCD

I also suggested this to her, don't know how it ended though, text messaged her since it has been a while when her dad needed the pictures, did not had any time to talk to her so I am waiting for that.

Glad to see that i'm not the only one that has difficulty's with this subject though.

When I read this, it sounds worse than asking whether or not it is OK for dad to watch her bathe, get dressed -- the answers to which we all know.

In all seriousness, it's creepy to even think about. If it were my daughter I would 1) not want to ask her to pose naked for me and 2) I wouldn't want a whole class/world seeing her naked and knowing I took the pictures. Each is bad enough on its own, combined it's almost criminal.

Yeah, tell him to get an account on Model Mayhem and find a TFCD model or even pay $100 for an hour or two. If you're paying, you can find all sorts of models to pose for you on that site.

If you ask me it doesnt matter how hot she is (supermodel, playboy centrefold quality etc), its just wrong.

Although saying that some non-nude pics would be goodj ust for reference purposes! :p

Interesting question...

I for one could not see myself doing this as it goes against the "norm" (i.e. my moral upbringing) as evidenced by the above responses.

However -- What is the difference if the father takes the pics versus any other photog ?? It's just art and if so why is this so taboo ??


The implication is that it's not art but sexual.

Anyway even with that arguement I couldn't do it just because it would indeed seem strange (or as droger put it yech!).

My daughter models occasionally and will pose for implied or tasteful nudes. However, I would not shoot her like that.

I think that we're all tending to sexualize nude photos. You have to realize that they may have a relationship that involves either family nudity or at least a very comfortable sense of nudity.

While I don't openly endorse it for all father/daughter relationships, I have known situations where this would be perfectly comfortable and acceptable.

But if she's at all hestitant, then the answer should be NO.

I just dont think any Pops should take naked pictures of his daughter. Even if there is nothing sexual about it, its his daughter? At some point it doesn't matter if you changed your kids diaper and seen them naked. You are still doing to much!

I still have no idea, she is a very busy girl and i have my own life so we did not have a chance to meet.
