This is my 9 year old daughter, Taylah. She was just getting into the car after a long day at the beach. I had only had my camera (canon powershot pro 1) for about 3 weeks and was messing around with the macro mode. I didnt really know what I was doing at the time.. but was happy with this one.. comments welcome.. its all new to me!!

Nice shot of a cute girl. Nice DOF. The parts that need to be in focus are! From the red in Taylah's eyes it looks like maybe a little salt water got in them :)

wow, that pro 1 really produces a nice image. I guess you don't have to lug a huge camera around to get good DOF.

This is a great shot and one she'll cherish later in life. Be sure ot have it printed archivally (Wal-Mart or on an Epson 2200, etc.) so that the image will still be around.
My great grandfather had a photography studio and my mother has many pictures from her childhood. I know she cherishes them now. I recently restored a picture (from a 5x7 negative) for her of a birthday party of a friend of hers. Mom must have been about your daughter's age and the friend a year or so younger. All of the kids got prints of the restoration save one who had already passed.

I like this shot. I like her expression and how a few strands of hair run across her face.
Definitly a keeper.

Very nice. It has lots of personality. And shows you don't need to spend thousands to get great shots.

Agreed, great shot, and I don't normally care for the EXTREME close-ups. But she's really jumping out of this one. Would love to see it in black and white as well.

Ksorbe.....I am sure you meant well but your version really (IMHO) ruined an otherwise lovely portrait.

Great shot, very cute daughter. Don't be nervous to post pics. I'm totally an amateur at this and can't wait to share some of them with the forum to get opinions. Besides, one the best things about taking pictures, is you don't have to be a pro to get a great shot.
