OK I have been trying to take a good shot for a friend who has requested a piece of artwork for his office.
You may have read about it here:

Heres contender number 3.
Please critique composition, artistic value, subject, whatever you think is important.

Yes!
Great shot.. very well done.
Personally,. I would not rpint the name or sig on the image itself... rather sign the matte,.. or print under a faux Photoshop type matte.
Bt that's a matter of taste.

How are image titles handled normally when the image becomes a piece of art?

It might be a winner if it should just the top of the trees plus a little sky, and if it were taken with a Canon camera - posted on a Canon fourm. :P

Excellent, but try it without the title and copyright or at least do them as a water mark (and smaller).

Does anyone else agree? Should I go back and reshoot with more sky and the top of the trees?

Does anyone have examples of a photo that is considered art and how its presented?

I think the photo is unique, well balanced with excellent composition. I also love the tone of the pic rather than pure BW. Beautiful, and one that I would be proud to exhibit.

No, I agree about the title being smaller but I like the crop on the first one better.

I like the first one better.
I have two monitors, I took both pictures and used each one as a background on the monitors and compared them side by side. To me the first looks better but I am no pro.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Wow thanx all.. I think I will print this one and display it.
I am going to prepare it as is, with no cropping or title and sig.
I will sign it with a gols or black marker...
Thanx!

(and smaller).
smaller
i think the fonts are fine but i think your name should be smaller and i suggest you use a simplier font for your name and date like courier new, times new roman, arial or verdana. but see what others think.
how about a scanned in hand written signature and date?

Actually I like it better the way it is, you've gotten close to the tops of the trees and I think adding more sky to it doesn't do anything for the picture. In fact I think it may actually detract from the mood that you've depicted with the sepia tone and the composition.

I agree. I thought the same when I shot it. Pluse the sky was so clouded I would not have captured clouds anyway. Skies were grey that day.

Wonderful shot!
I like the idea of putting the title in the frame, but I would rather see it on the right side, as in the first shot.
Best regards,
Andy
