The last one looks nice; the others just look like snapshots... I think they need fill light.

#1: flat, dull lighting (the light source is shining on the part of her we can't see), and too much "dead" space above her head. Not enough overall interest, and seemingly snapped arbitrarily off-centre in the frame without any consciousness of composition.

#2: Looks like one of those things that might have seemed interesting at the time, but it ultimately doesn't deliver enough interest for an independent photo, especially as silhouette's have no texture or detail to satisfy.

#3: Even the best skies, with rolling thunderclouds and sunset/rise hues, are hardly ever enough in and of themselves for a great photo. This one's not even in the running. Stick to foreground, mid-ground, background and that sky might be a good element in a picture, but it's just not enough by itself.

#4: You've got 1/3rd (or less) of land, and a lot of boring sky. Try 2/3rds land and 1/3rd sky and you'll get a more interesting result. It's also the wrong time of day to get sunlight on the buildings along the hill side, so they look dull and uninteresting. Further, the position's you've framed in at left and right seem pretty arbitrary, there's nothing much suggesting some completion. Yes, the shadowed diagonal disappearing in the bottom left corner is better than nothing, but half a building on the edge is not good.

#5: A good effort... reasonably deep depth of field for a relatively close-up shot, which makes it more satisfying inspecting the flowers, exposure's a bit flat in parts but that's better than blown. Blue background makes a nice contrast, and the branch disappears into a corner which is good. The most strongly presented flower is also a third in from the left, which is also good composition.

Cheers, Tony
