View Full Version : What deteremines subfolders?

I'll go on an outing with my 20D, and when I return, I may have 1, 2 or 3 subfolders inside my DCIM folder on the CF card. Since I usually don't power down in the field (no need with one battery and one lens)...what determines the break-point when it creates a second and third folder?
It's a minor annoyance, since my first task at home is to move all the files from the CF card to my hard drive, for faster viewing, and it'd be faster to drag from one folder instead of three.
Thanks,
Paul

On my 300D the sub folders are in groups of 100 shots. Everytime I reach another hundred, ie 700, 800 etc, the camera creates a new sub folder.
Don't know whether it is the same on the 20D but I would imagine so.
Hope that helps

In one folder the camera stores 100 files, so every 100 files it creates a new folder.
In WINDOWS you can select all the folders on your CF card at once and copy them to a (temporary) folder on your hard drive. This way you don't have to copy the folders on your CF card one by one to your computer.
