Hi,

I have a slight problem I'm hoping you guys could help me with. I'll take several pictures using my 850, and there'll always be a couple that turn up side ways when I upload them either to Photobucket and also (just recently learned) in a Watermarking program I'm using as well.

And here's the thing: Not only do I take the all of the pictures holding the camera the same position, but even after I upload the pictures to my computer, when simply viewing them using a normal picture viewer (or even in MS Paint) they are up right - upload to PB, and they're side ways. I really don't get it.

So what I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong or is this a natural occurrence? I can't seem to understand how or why this is happening and really would love to get the problem resolved, so any help regarding this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

The camera has a "level". If it senses it's not horizontal, and you've set "Autorotate" (or some similar term) to "On", it'll assume that one of the ends should be down. This is especially pronounced if you're looking down at something rather than at something off on the distant horizon.

Hi Jon,

Thanks very much for your response. :)

You know what's weird, tho', is that the picture only shows up sideways when I upload it to Photobucket. I opened it using Windows Picture & Fax Viewer and also - just now - opened it using Firefox and it's in the correct position. I was thinking for a second that both applications (Firefox + Windows Viewer) may "fix" the picture, but then started to wonder how in the world either app. would know which way the "right" way is.

As for the "level", do you (or anyone else) know where I can turn it off? Not real good with cameras and what not and honestly wouldn't know where to begin to look for it.

Page 73 of your "Advanced" manual. Menu - Set-up (the wrench icon) Auto Rotate and select "Off".
