If in the wrong section, mods please move.

I was at a photo club meeting the other night. The presenter was 10 feet or so from the computer (Apple laptop - hooked up to a projector).

After he finished discussing a slide, he pushed something in his hand and the next slide would display. Any idea what he used and if a similar device is available for a PC?

Thanks

edit:

One of those or a wireless mouse would likely work.

You could go out and buy a wireless mouse for your laptop and it would have the same effect. Its simple to hook up (just a USB connection is required and batteries in the wireless mouse) and you would have the same thing essentially.

I thought about a wireless mouse, but if I'm not in line of sight of the screen, how do I know the pointer is over the "next slide" button? For example, if the mouse gets too close to an object (laser grabs), and the pointer moves a little from the advance button, I'll have a mess. Or am I missing something about how a wireless mouse works?

My corded mouse has back and forward buttons on the side of it, I assume there are some wireless ones that have them as well.

It is quite useful. I used a circa 1997 Logitech Surfman for almost a decade which fit the bill nicely until the ball wore out. :(

I mostly use my PC (seeing as I just built it) but I have a Mac laptop, and it comes with a remote
