Hello to all,

I've been lurking around the forums for a few weeks now and have been stealing some tips and techniques here and there.

This photoshoot is the result of my forum enlightenment .

love the car. not sure about the wheels and the intercooler is crooked. but of course, none of that is your fault. unless its your car of course, haha. as for the photos, #1 and #5 are my favorite even though #1 is a bit off center and crooked. im not a fan of the backgrounds in the others.

Not my car :p, yeah I just realized that for #1 I used the lines on the delivery doors to get a flat image, while I should have used the car's bumper.

I'll post an untouched picture to see how much PS retouching was needed due to cracks in the bumper, lip, missing fog light cover and this blue hue to the picture. Maybe because I was shooting right before sunset?

Maybe because I was shooting right before sunset? Regarding WB generally, reality isn't everything. Would we try to make a sunset neutral? The "Correct" WB may not be the "Right" WB for a image. Remember, you're the judge of your own image. We used to use gels to add "romance" to our car shots for ad agencies.

Except for the angle in #4, they're pretty good & the Bimmer looks OK. I'd crop in more in #1 & 3.

I realized the E46 convertible coupes shot sideways isn't very pretty to look at. The proportions are way off, the back end, starting from the end of the driver's door just looks tooooo long. It almost feels as though it belongs to another car.

Here's another crop of #1 as you suggested, as also aligned the front bumper with the pavement, but that lead to the delivery doors being obviously crooked, I can't decide if its better for the car to be slightly crooked and the doors straight or the doors to be quite crooked and the car straight.

and the same crop of the original picture. Notice the missing fog cover on the right of the picture, windows reflection on the hood.

And here is #3 recropped.

Thanks for all the help guys!

I think the re-crops make the car look better. I can't decide if its better for the car to be slightly crooked and the doors straight or the doors to be quite crooked and the car straight. Tough choice. Usually I keep the car straight in a tight shot unless the surface it's on has an obvious tilt & it adds to the shot. OTOH, the buildings will look weird tilted unless you're going for that with a wide angle.
So... no real answer from me! :D

You speak the truth. The rims do not go well at all with an M3 :(

Loving the first one though.
