According to the tests. The Extreme III cards get write speeds of around 5mb/sec.

Last week i recieved my 2 Gb EXTREME III CF card from sandisk and i must say i'm very disappointed. I tested it with a Standard Sandisk card 1 Gb and they are equally fast in a 20D and can hold the samen picture counts shot at 5 fr/s until the buffer runs out. It takes the same time to clear the buffer after it's full in a 20D.
So there is no advantage in buying the more expensive EXTREME III cards. For the same money you can almost buy 2 standard cards and loose nothing in speed.
I have also based my purchase on the info on the Rob Galbright website.
The 20D does not take advantage from the faster EXTREME III CF cards compared with a standard Sandisk CF card. I have done the tests several time and it's always the same result. No gain in write speed compared with the two cards.
So my advise is not to buy the more expensive EXTREME III CF card for a 20D but buy 2 or more standard CF cards of the same capacity and for almost the same price as one EXTREME III CF card.

There's an insignificant performance difference.

Yep,. the 20D can take all the card speed you throw at it :)

Maybe i have a bad copy of the EXTREME III 2 Gb CF card and therfore my 20D is not faster in writing to the EXTREME card. In theory it should be much faster but if used and compared wit a slower STANDARD CF card it have the same speed.
The EXTREME III CF card is faster but the 20D does not take advantage of it in my case.
Can you please tell me if i'm doing something wrong or is there something i can or should do to improve the writing speed to the EXTREME III CF card with my 20D?
I have the latest firmware so that is can not be the problem.
Thank you.

Well acoording to this link, the ultra II is a little faster in most cases over the extreme III, the 20d mush not write faster the 10Mbps i would say, i think the extreme III is for future devices! It actually says that on the pack
