canon 300/f4 is

Hi, i plan to buy the 300/f4l is lens for taking butterfly and insect pics, my question is can this lens be handheld in the real world?grateful for any info, sorry this is in the wrong forum

i use to have a 300 f4 Without is , now i have 300 f4 with is - and would not go back it realy works well and it s a great lens i think its well worth the extra cost.

Get the IS 300/4 L. Still has AF and IS with the 1.4x even. Add an extension tube or two and even handholding = great macro for butterflies, dragonflies, and such. I love mine.
