With flash, that could've been a better photo :o

What makes you say that? The sun is already harsh as it is. I don't think flash would really help it... Maybe if you were in shade and there were great shadows... but that doesnt seem to be the case.
Learn to make due and use what you have to its full potential before blaming it on the need for equipment.

Unless of course you're trying to justify buying more equipment... in that case it's ok. ;)

I agree with drewmk2. I assume you wanted fill flash for the face (which is out of focus), but the rest of the shot is pretty blown out. Maybe some exposure compensation would have helped.

agreed with all the above. Shooting outside is tricky and a lot of good shots depend on the time of day you shoot. From my limited experience, shooting at dawn and dusk can produce very nice pictures. Sounds like you want to buy a flash... DO IT ALREADY! It'll elevate your photography.

What are you talking about? Fill flash makes all the difference in the world shooting in harsh sun.
It makes the subject brighter, thus putting emphasis on him.

Wouldn't the cameras inbuilt flash done the job?
Obviously it depands on how far away the photographer is.

Yes, you're right, but this shot's got more issues than fill flash. The face is way out of focus, and the glare from the rest of the skin wouldn't be compensated for with fill flash.

Then perhaps a flash question? I know there are other issues other than exposure here, but with the 300D I believe the flash exposure is for the focus point. If the focus point was the face would that not expose properly for the face only?
