I am looking for a new camera with specific features that I want. One is the ability to "date stamp" (as in the lower right corner of the jpg/file image). I am seriously interested in the Canon SX10 IS as it has every feature I am searching for except one, and that is the date stamp. I have read in many reviews etc. where there is a date stamp on/off mode. That said however, I am currently using a Lumix DMC FZ20 and it also has a date stamp option, but it only prints the date when the photos are actually printed out, and does not imprint it on the jpg image files that I store on my computer. That is NOT what I want. I want to be able to look at any image on my computer screen and readily see the date the photo was taken, stamped into the bottom corner of the pics. I know it stores the dates and info etc., but that is not what I want. I want to see it visible as that yellow/orange/white (whatever color it may be) stamp found in the lower right corner of photos.

I have read in some places that there may be a "postcard" feature (size/quality selection) that is a lower quality but that it will stamp it. Is this available in this model? I have searched and searched and I just cannot find any SOLID answers to my question. Any help you can offer will be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you in advance.

Well, every digital photo from virtually every digital camera contains embedded "EXIF" data, which includes the time and date. This isn't emblazoned across the photo, but is machine-readable.

Sorry, but unless you use a photo editing program and type it in there, it just ain't gonna happen! ;)

OK, thank you. That's what I was afraid of. :-(

The problem with emblazoning it across the front of the file when you take the picture is that you can never get rid of it, even if you want an 11x14 print of the bride and groom having their first kiss.
