This week in Split was 1st competition in free climbing for Croatian cup in dificulty and speed.. Here are few photos from competition and i will like to see you opinion on this pictures..

Not bad! Love how your above them, taking the shots looking down at them. Haha, how'd you manage that one? Climb up there yourself and hang over the edge? :-) Musta been fun. I wish I could have been climbing those walls myself. Looks like a lot of fun.

As I'm free climber i climb on the top and hang over the edge... there was construction on back side as you can see on 2 last pictures so it wasn't so hard and when I come on top I insure myself so i couldn't fell down :)

Nice shots !! Always like to see climbing shots as i sued to climb when i was younger and a lot fitter :)

You call them "Free Climbing", but that used to mean no ropes, no protection. Is Free climbing now different as I haven't been keeping up ?

EEEEEEEEE Wrong... Free climbing means that climber use only power of his body (fingers, hands, legs, brain) to climb rute, using insurance (rope, belt, protection) only for safety... (he must not use any of his insurance equipment to climb rute.

What you wrote is free solo that is some idiotic thing when you climb whitout any protection and if you fell you are dead or sirously injured..

Must be a language or passing of the years thing. Free climbing was always that, Free. You had boots and chalk but that was it. So it is now called free solo ? Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.

Don't know about it being idiotic. Dangerous ? Sure. But it certainly focuses the body and mind if you know you can't just swing off :)

Still, I tend to agree with Marulianus.

Russian Roulette is not considered a very smart to do by many people, though it will sure give you a hell of a thrill :wink:

You are wrong about it free climbing means like i say before that you climb only with power of your body using insurance... Other climbing only with boots and chalk bag is always called free solo...

I try to free solo 2-3 times and I know that I will newer do that again. Your life can depend on small things what you can't control... If i can climb let we say 6c, then I can free solo every 6a+ whitout problem... But better not :)
