View Full Version : Using backdrop stand as a light stand?

My mom has a backdrop stand that she never uses, it has a 5/8 bolt on the top and will fit the umbrella swivel I bought. Is this a good idea or is it just too hard to move around? It is two independant cushioned stands that are connected by a removable bar. You can use them as lightstand because that is what they are. Just remove the top screw and replace with a stud like below link.

They are a bit heavy and big, are most light stands like this?
