Are these a must for outdoor portraits and weddings? I understand they will read you the proper exposure and f stop to use but if you take one test shot get your proper exposure and then process what you need to (shooting in raw) your pictures should come out just as good right? or am i way off base here

I would not do any photography without a light meter.
The meters in modern cameras can do a very good job if you learn to use them correctly.
An incident meter can be a very useful tool even if you understand your camera's meter.

Well the suns light changes fairly slow depending on the weather so for now i should be good I started off shooing manual and then moved to the rest of the settings so i should be ok i gues ill get one when im totally and utterly disgusted with my work
