First picture has to be a duck, but I got the camera while I was at work, and I couldn't wait to hear that thing burst, so I found a duck...

There. It's a duck. I get good luck.

Next I took it to my daughter's softball practice and gave it a run. I have to say, I think I jinxed myself not finding a real duck. I was not happy...

1. It doesn't stop motion very well.

2. It sucks on horizons.

3. It can't eliminate the fence.
http://greenwood360.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/8s9z0594.jpg
4. My daughter thinks it's ugly.

And there's obviously still trouble with the auto focus. It should have known that I meant to aim at the batter.

Seriously though, all I can say is wow.

I took the same shots with the XTI, the 40D and the MKIII. There's the same equivalent 'step up' going from each to each to each. It's hard to imagine the next step up in quality. The MKIII is incredible.

Regards,

John

That Juggs machine is a trip. This year is my first time dealing with a pitching machine in 7 years of coaching. It makes a huge difference in the ball flight depending on the size of the ball and how you insert... either 2 seam or 4 seam. My friend and fellow POTN'er TJADAMS has parent batting contests after the girls' practice is over. It's fun!

The jugs machine is a heavy beast, I have one sitting in my garage. I wish I could sell it, then I'd have the funds to get a couple of things I need for my kit.. If I even mention of getting rid of the thing, I get these nasty looks from my sons and husband.....

My Mark III has the same problem with horizons. I'm going to put a lift in the other shoe.

;-)

I tried the lift in my shoe, but I turned around and it got got worse. Like a Mountain Goat with two legs shorter than the others.

+1 You think with a $4000 camera they could at least get that right... maybe a recall is needed!

What are you talking about $4000? I paid $7500 ! Oh wait, the salesman told me this was a "Gold Dot" model, that must be why. He tried to sell me the "Platinum Dot" but I'm no sucker.

Thanks guys. It's really a new world. The coolest thing I've found so far... http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=574096

Works great for baseball when there's rapidly changing light. I like to shoot in Manual and use the AF-ON button when the light is constant. Then I press * when the clouds roll in or when the player is in shade. I registered my * to AV +1/3.

Wow thanks for the link John. I just shot a baseball game yesterday in AV and hate the inconsistency you get with it. That would work good for shooting the back lit batters in M then using the * for the front lit fielders as the ball is hit. As I told you the other day there are just soooo many custom settings in this thing.

Very good idea Danny. I had not thought about using the setting to solve the back lit batters issue. I have that back lighting on 4 of 9 fields that I cover.
